Seaside

 Seaside

The lights flicker and go out

I still sit watching the waves

The sound filters in

But doesn’t land anywhere

While my lights are still on

The darkness prevails

And the diminishing horizon

Goes obscure

The laughter slowly dies down

I still sit watching the waves

The water wets my feet

But doesn’t touch anywhere

While my lights are still on

The world sleeps off

And the gripping vastness

Goes obscure

The shooting crackers are long gone

I still sit watching the waves

The sands shift through my feet

But doesn’t leave at all

While my lights are still on

The clouds hide the moon

And the abating silence

Goes obscure

The memories slowly filter in

I still sit watching the waves

The waves crash on rocks

But doesn’t whisper anymore

While my lights are still on

The sky meets the horizon

And the splashing blue

Goes obscure

The ache is back again

I still sit watching the waves

The heart starts to beat fast

But I don’t feel the throb at all

While my lights slowly incinerate

The hand caresses my lips

And the squeezing serenity

Goes obscure
